Run PowerUP

Run the Course

To run the PowerUP course in your area you need to purchase the course material and agree to the conditions of becoming the Licensed PowerUP Facilitator in your area. See terms and conditions.

How It Works

Basic information about the course, how it works and some example content can be found on the About the Course page. Below is further detailed information that a facilitator needs to be aware of. For an evening course, this is a suggested session timeline.

Facilitator Requirements

Courses must be run by a Licensed PowerUP Facilitator. The facilitator is responsible for managing registrations, all liaising with parents, and health and safety. Often they also run the big group components of the sessions. However, this part of the session can also be run by another volunteer.

The course deals with sensitive material and therefore the facilitator needs to have the experience/skills required to support children if extra needs arise. It is recommended that follow up counselling is available for any child if needed. Health, safety and privacy concerns are the key reasons that you must have agreed to our terms and conditions to become a Licensed PowerUP Facilitator to run the course.

Volunteer Requirements

Each child is buddied up with a volunteer coach for the duration of the programme. Ideally this would be one buddy per coach, however two buddies per coach would be possible. It is recommended that each session of the course includes a shared meal or dessert or snack, so you will also need to have volunteers available to help with catering. All coaches and volunteers must hold current Police Checks.

Participant Cost

The course is usually run at a cost of $10 per child per session, but ideally you would be able to provide sponsorship if needed. This helps to cover the cost of the catering and printing of worksheets etc. for each child.

It is possible to ask coaches for a voluntary contribution of $5 per coach per session to contribute towards catering costs.

Course Costs

Up-front Course Purchase Cost

There are pricing options for running a one-off course or for purchasing full rights for a single licensed facilitator to run the course on an ongoing basis. There is also the ability to pay to register a new or additional facilitator. See pricing options. This is the upfront cost required to have permission to run the course.

Additional On-going Running Costs

On top of the purchase price for the course there will also be costs involved per child per course. Depending on how you choose to run the course these may include:

  • printing course materials
    - approx $25/child/course

  • providing meals/snack for sessions
    - approx $10/child/session
    - this includes feeding the child and their coach

  • purchasing/making items for each child’s PowerTools box
    - approx $20/child/course

Note that if all children contribute $10 per session and all coaches contribute $5 per session it is expected that this would fully cover your catering costs and the only additional cost will be $45/child/course to cover printing and PowerTools items. Although this all depends on how your organisation chooses to run the course.

Further Details on Printing Costs

All material must be printed in colour.

We have a preferred printer arrangement with Windsor Creative. Please contact them for options and pricing info@windsorcreative.org.nz.

Alternatively printing can be arranged with a local printshop. It is recommended that special take-home items including Treasure Card bookmarks and PowerTools cards be printed professionally on card. It is also preferred that brochures are professionally printed.

Worksheets, PowerTools booklets, Gratitude journals, Coach manuals and Parent letters can all just be colour printed and bound or stapled by you if you have a good quality colour printer.

It is expected that printing costs would be approximately $250 per course (for 10 children).

Further Details on PowerTools Items
