About Us

The PowerUP course has been produced by the Windsor Park LifeCare Trust.

Our Vision

To build stronger communities by putting our faith into action
We achieve this by providing support and care services that meet the needs of people: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.

Our Values

We’re Holistic in our approach
Our Christian heart means we affirm life in all of its joys and challenges and we provide a broad array of services with compassion and grace.

We’re Practical in our work
Faith is action and action shows faith; we’re prepared to get our hands dirty and meet people where they’re at, providing practical and workable solutions to the complexities of life.

We’re Individual in our nature
Building stronger communities starts with one person and we’ll treat each person with the respect they deserve. Yes, we’ll have group options because we believe we’re better together, but a group is just a collective of individuals contributing to each other. Each person is important to us.

We’re Committed to the long term
Nothing of value comes easily so we’re committed to growing sustainably and responsively as we change with the ebbs and flows of our community.

Gayle Van Hoffen | PowerUP Author

Much of the teaching of PowerUP is based on the power of the story, so it seems fitting to introduce you to this course with some of my story.

My Childhood: When I was growing up our family faced many challenges. I had wonderful parents who loved my brother and I dearly. However, even that wasn’t enough to protect us from what was happening in their world. But it was not just their world, because as a child you are directly affected by what is happening in the world of the adults closest to you. Mental illness, alcohol, problems with prescription drugs and marital separation were just some of the issues we faced as a family. In the midst of it all my mother passed away from a tragic accident. I was 12 years old.

Looking Back: Now as an adult and a parent I think back and find it unbelievable that there was little to no support for us as a family. How were we to process all that had happened? It was mistakenly believed that children were naturally resilient and often the less said about the experiences the better. It is so great to know that we are beginning to understand things so differently now!

My Passion: I am passionate about supporting parents and equipping children as they navigate life. I strongly believe that time and resources channelled towards this area of ministry is good stewardship and a great investment in the future wellbeing of our children and families. These precious children are the up and coming generation, our next leaders and future sets of parents. If we want to prepare them for their future we need to empower them with the skills to adequately process their present reality.

The Windsor Park ‘Group’

Along with Windsor Park Lifecare Trust are three other entities—Windsor Park Baptist Church, Equip Trust, and Windsor Park Hub Limited—that make up what we call the Windsor Park 'Group' with Windsor Park Baptist Church as its core. These social enterprises and non-profits are Windsor Park Baptist Church's response to meet the specific needs of the community and marketplace with the common vision to build stronger communities by putting faith into action.
